Awful group name + head-scratching album title + gimmicky plastic magnifying glass with which to examine the no-smaller-than-anyone-else’s liner notes: Oddly enough, the equation yields an overwhelmingly positive outcome for the densely melodic, guitar-driven rockers.

Not that this debut release could be considered the slightest bit uplifting, what with abstract, stream-of-conscious lyrics concerning “damned to die” whores (“Desert”), a “society of wolves” (“Gnarly Teeth”) and a certain greed-based society’s unwinnable war that confesses “all is lost” (“Tanks of Gold”).
Yet even when the protagonist of “Analog Love Machine” fears putting “my heart on tape” is a hopeless endeavor, extended squalls of pent-up, indefatigable passion promise to burn ... and possibly redeem. No other Vegas outfit delivers propulsive bummers better.
