U.S. vs. Ghana World Cup game | Crown & Anchor | June 16, 2014 | 4:58 P.M.
It was dark. It was crowded, smelling of human bodies and beer. Do Americans care about the World Cup? Apparently they do—a boisterous crowd showed up at Crown & Anchor on Tropicana to watch the U.S. play Ghana Monday. Passionate soccer fans, they cheered and chanted, questioned the referee’s calls and fretted over player injuries. Then they went absolutely crazy after the U.S. beat Ghana 2-1, hugging and kissing, splashing beer and setting off confetti party poppers. I stood on a chair, held my camera over my head with a wide-angle lens and prayed something would be in focus. Hopefully, the beer didn’t damage that big-screen TV.
