ALOHA ALL OVER Turns out this year’s tasty newbie California Noodle House was only the beginning. Boyd Gaming announced a complete face-lift is underway at its seminal Downtown hotel-casino the California, with almost every public area including the valet and porte cochère, guest registration and casino floor getting refreshed in modern Hawaiian colonial style. Those renovations will be wrapped up in early 2016, to be quickly followed by a complete redesign and upgrade of almost all of the Cal’s 500 hotel rooms and suites. More new food and beverage options are on the way as well. –Brock Radke
