Lake Mead's Third Straw Intake Tunnel | 8:22 a.m. | June 1, 2015
After going down a 600-foot access shaft, we took a train to the end of the 3-mile tunnel that runs under Lake Mead. At times the lights flickered, and for a split second it was completely dark. Remembering the Chilean miners trapped underground for 69 days in 2010 and thinking about all the water above my head, disaster-movie plots began flooding through my mind.
