Halloween in Las Vegas generally means sexy costume contests at nightclubs, but if you’re more interested in the spookier side of the holiday, park yourself at the Palms this weekend for the Fangoria Trinity of Terrors event. Veteran horror magazine Fangoria is sponsoring a combination horror film festival and convention, with 17 feature films, a large exhibition hall, panels and Q&A sessions and a concert by scary metal band Slipknot. Films will include George A. Romero’s latest zombie epic Survival of the Dead; the acclaimed indie horror film House of the Devil; the Milla Jovovich alien-abduction thriller The Fourth Kind, which opens the following week; classic B-movie House on Haunted Hill, with added snarky commentary by the RiffTrax crew; and many more.

The event will also feature celebrity guests packing its panels and post-film discussions; Romero, Malcolm McDowell, Bruce Campbell and Roger Corman are among the biggest names who’ll be appearing. Filmmaker John Waters will be performing his one-man show This Filthy World, which isn’t really related to horror but should be awesome nonetheless. If you have time between the movies and presentations, you can walk the exhibition floor to check out DVD distributors, production companies, video-game designers, artists and more. And the Fangoria costume contest is likely to be a lot more creative than those at nightclubs—without skimping on the risqué outfits.
