In repsonse to complaints about the naked-woman mural painted on the Downtown home of the artist Dray, at Colorado and Casino Center, the school district has moved a bus stop. The stop used to be right in front of the mural, but because of complaints received from parents, the district moved it one block away, to California and Casino Center. Save the children! There may be drug deals and prostitutes at this intersection, but thank God there's no rendering of a painted breast.

The black boxes placed on top of various housing projects have been removed, according to the Las Vegas Housing Authority. The boxes controlled residents' air conditioning during peak hours, turning them off and on throughout the day to, essentially, take energy from the poor and spread it around the Valley. The Weekly published a story about this in early September ("Broken Homes, 9/02/04), and the Housing Authority verified that the boxes were removed sometime in the last month.
Local Irish chick band Killian's Angels hit the recording studio last Monday to play their own, Irish version of the Jeopardy! theme song. "We start out with a traditional kind of Irish, and then we get a little rock and roll," says Ginger Bruner, who plays the tuba. The radio ad will play in coming months in the country's top 25 markets. Killian's Angels consists of six women (Lisa Viscuglia, Beth Mullaney, Satomi Hofmann, Dolly Coulter, Nan Fortier and Bruner) who, together, play more instruments than you can count and you can catch them at Brendan's Irish Pub in the Orleans this Thursday, September 30, through Saturday from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
