Scintas

A scintillating anniversary

Hilary Green

In a world in which shows can open and close in the same day, it is always a pleasure to celebrate a long-running show. Just ask Mary Scinta, mother of three talented children who are about to celebrate their show's fifth anniversary at the Rio.

Frank, Joey and Chrissi Scinta (they have another brother who is a retired policeman) grew up in Buffalo, N.Y. They started early: Frank picked up a banjo when he was 5 years old and, at the age of 2, Chrissi was called "the next Ethel Merman" by a local columnist. Joey toyed with the bass guitar and began playing as a teenager.

After making a name for themselves in their hometown, the talented siblings set out to do the same thing in other cities, such as Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland and, in 2000, wound up in Las Vegas with a huge national following. With their "adopted" brother, drummer Pete O'Donnell, the Scintas have become one of the most popular acts in town. In April 2001, they moved into their own theater at the Rio, where they have been delighting crowds from all over the world with their hilarious impressions, sharp comedy and remarkable musical ability.

Your whole family will thoroughly enjoy the Scintas' family in the room that was renamed for them.
