The officer-involved shooting (OIS) on October 4—a single-shot incident on Harmon Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard that left nobody harmed—was the latest in a wave of shootings involving Metro police officers. Three separate incidents within a month’s time gave the impression that Las Vegas’ police officers have been a bit trigger-happy this year.
But, when you’re in the midst of it, a wave oftentimes seems bigger and more intense than it actually is. When looked at from a bird’s eye view, the OIS numbers for Metro are far less alarming than it presently seems.
